In ancient times, the village built a beautiful Garni architectural complex - a monument to the history of Armenia antiquity fortress of Garni. It was situated on a high rocky cliff, surrounded on three sides by deep gorges of the almost vertical cliffs. With the flat side erected a strong wall in 26 m height of large basalt blocks connected by iron straps and sealed with lead. For nearly seven centuries, the fortress was the residence of the kings of Armenia.At the fortress was located and one of the few remaining pagan temples in Armenia Hellenic era - Sun temple dedicated to the god Mithra (known in the region as Myhr), built in I century AD Greek slaves builders.
